On safari

Accommodation on safari is full board in non-permanent tented camps set up every evening in the heart of Maasailand.

The camels are primarily used to carry camp equipment, but there are riding camels, which accompany the walkers and can be ridden where the terrain allows. The camels also carry refreshments.

Enjoy your coffee or tea and the view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mt. Meru or Oldonyo Lengai volcan, and then head out for your morning walking or camel safari.
After 3-4 hours safari you will enjoy a picnic lunch in the middle of the savannah that includes fresh local fruit such as mango and pineapple or local chapati (local pancake). In the afternoon you will walk other 2 hours to reach the mobile camp and then take an afternoon siesta while the guides and assistants prepare for you an amazing tea-break under sunset light.
After a traditional Tanzanian rich dinner you will rest in comfortable tents in the silent bush while night watchmen watch for your security.

As the camp is carried entirely on camel back, please bear in mind that while every effort is made to provide a comfortable camp, strong adaptation spirit is needed.

The camps offer camping tents, mattresses, pillows, bed sheets and blankets, towels, chairs and tables, camping toilets and hot water showers.
Please select natural soaps in respect of natural environment.
  The Mkuru Camel Camp

With the most incredible view, Mkuru Camel Camp is situated on the north side of Mt. Meru, not far away from the irrigated fields of Ngarenanyuki and the Momella gate of the Arusha National Park. The area around the camp is alive with colourful birds, small mammals, zebra and giraffe in the plains to the north, and is corridor for elephants travelling between Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro. Not far from the camp, Maasai Families are living in small traditional Bomas.
The camp is set among acacias and designed to compliment the environment. Comfortable tends, simple bathrooms and cooking facilities are available.
At night you will relax by a campfire, listening to animals sounds under a roof of stars.

Mkuru Camel Camp is located in the area of Mkuru Maasai village: you will enjoy closeness with the natural environment and its inhabitants, and play an active role in the conservation of the land and of the Maasai culture. You will learn about Maasai lifestyle, about their land, their culture. You will learn it through them, in the most genuine way.

For every day you spend at Mkuru Camel Camp, a development fee go to the local village for community benefit (building and improving school or dispensary, etc.).

Comfortable tends on wooden platforms, simple toilets and showers, hot water on request, fireplace, dining room and resting area are available.
